Google Called: Myth or Reality?

Google Called: Myth or Reality?

The #1 question I get asked by small business owners (other than how do I get my phone to ring more?) is “Google keeps calling me. They want me to pay them to manage my Google page. Is that real?”

The short answer? Probably not.

These supposed Google employees will tell you that your listing is not performing the way it should or has not been claimed. Of course, for a small fee, they will take care of this problem for you. Here is an important piece of information you’ll want to know; claiming your Google listing and updating the information is 100% free. (you can do it here: https://goo.gl/RQ32DY) Google makes it easy for you to claim your listing because they want accurate business information in their search results.

A trick to deciding if these phone calls are indeed genuine comes down to one factor, money. If the caller on the other line is asking for payment of some sort, you can be sure this is a bogus call. It is possible, although unlikely, that a Google representative is calling you to help you update your information, but they will never ask for payment.

If you are still receiving these phone calls and have already put yourself on the Do Not Call list, you are encouraged to file a complaint at the National Do Not Call Registry (https://goo.gl/eUbMEB)
